Meet Juanita Cronje: Financial Director at Fortis Hotels

Juanita grew up in Louis Trichard (now Makhado) – a small town in Limpopo on the slopes of the Soutpansberg.

She loves taking pictures.  In 2012 she took a photography course and is very proud to be an “award winning photographer” ?.  One of her photos was chosen as the best of their group, and she won the print on an A1 canvas.

Her career started in 1994 when she was fresh out of school and started to work at an Auditing firm in Pretoria. Answering phones and doing basic bookkeeping.

She really enjoyed the accounting work and worked herself up to be more involved in Accounting work for clients and later specialised in individual taxes as well.

In 2003, she wanted a change in life.  So, she decided that an accountant position at a hotel looks very exciting (working in a “vacation” environment can’t be that stressful was her thinking).  She then took the position as accountant for Protea Hotel Hazyview.

Together with her now husband, Johan Cronje, they moved to George in 2004 where she was the office manager and head accountant for a local Accounting firm.

In 2008 they moved to Cape Town, where she was the Accountant for Protea Hotel Victoria Junction.  Later moved on to become the Financial Manager for Protea Hotel Franschhoek and then later for Protea Hotel North Wharf.

In 2014 they had to leave the beautiful Cape and move to Pretoria, due to her husband being offered an opportunity to open a hotel in Pretoria.  She then joined the Boulevard group as one of the Group Financial Managers.

Shortly after joining the group they had a gorgeous little boy, Christiaan, who is now 3.5 years old, and he keeps her fit and has shown her that one needs to laugh more often.

She took over the Head Office Accounts department and implemented the current structure that is now Fortis Hotels Pty Ltd.

In November 2017 she was approached by Mr MacLachlan to become the Financial Director of Fortis Hotels Pty Ltd, which she accepted.
